MIMplus Technologies relies on the CMF-technology from Headmade Materials
MIMplus Technologies, part of the OBE-group, relies on the Cold Metal Fusion (´Metal SLS´) technology from Headmade Materials and expands its production facility with the Selective Lasering System (SLS) XYZprinting MfgPro230 xS for the next step into industrial metal 3D printing.
MIMplus Technologies, based in Ispringen/Germany, is a well-known manufacturing specialist using different, innovative production technologies with focus on high-tech materials and customers in the aerospace, medical, automotive, precision mechanics and luxury sector.
Being already versed in Metal Injection Moulding (MIM), which also includes a debinding and sintering step, Headmade Materials’ sinter-based Cold Metal Fusion (CMF) technology is the perfect match to MIMplus’ portfolio. The 3D printing technology easily integrates into their existing machinery and production steps, with only the shaping of the green parts now taking place in the XYZ MfgPro230 xS SLS printer.
MIMplus already successfully uses 3D printing technologies to have the right production technology in-house for a wide range of products. In general, 3D printing allows to manufacture functional, complex metal parts in no time, on demand and individually according to customer specifications. Compared to other 3D printing technologies, however, CMF offers additional advantages when it comes to part spectrum, design freedom, cost-, time- and resource-savings as well as scalability of production which results in completely new solutions and unexpected possibilities.
“We evaluated many sinter-based metal 3D printing technologies but the Cold Metal Fusion technology from Headmade Materials in the end offered us the best combination of part quality, economic production and an effortless integration into our production environment” says Harald Boeck, Managing Director of MIMplus.
The XYZ MfgPro230 xS was supplied by ProductionToGo, Karlsbad, and put into operation at the MIMplus headquarters in Ispringen together with Headmade Materials.
“We are proud of this cooperation and are pleased that MIMplus implements our Cold Metal Fusion technology as the next logical step into industrial metal 3D printing” says Christian Fischer, Managing Director of Headmade Materials.
About Headmade Materials
Headmade Materials GmbH, Wuerzburg, Germany, develops materials and processes for metal 3D printing of series components. The core of the technology is the sinter-based 3D printing process Cold Metal Fusion (‘Metal SLS’), which enables customers to produce metal components in series at low cost and at scale. By adapting the material, the process runs on available equipment from different manufacturers and greatly facilitates process integration and part certification. Headmade Materials offers customers on-site use of the Cold Metal Fusion process as well as 3D-printing services and consulting.
